Free Traffic Tips in the Web 2.0 Marketing Age

February 20th, 2012

Here is a quick strategy that anyone can do to get targeted traffic to your website. All you need is a Facebook profile, a Twitter account and the ability to write a 500 word article once or twice a week.

OK first step is to get a Twiter account. This is so easy it is scary. Just go to twitter.com and sign up. Take a bit of time and fill out your profile to match your personality. Once on Twitter take some time and follow as many people as possible. Try to follow those that interest you and you know. As you follow them many are likely to follow you as well.

Next step is set up a Facebook profile. I will assume you know how to do this because everyone and their mom is now of Facebook. If not there are plenty of articles out there showing you how. Once you are on Facebook get as many “friends” as you can. The more friends you have the more powerful this strategy will be. But again be friends with those that you want to be friends with, don’t become friends with total strangers.

Once your Facebook profile is set up do a search on Facebook for a “twitter application”. There are several out there so pick the one that you like best. You should find one that will post your Twitter posts into your Facebook status. When you find the application you want to install just click the button and the application will be added to your Facebook profile. Add your Twitter url and you should be all set to go.

Now you need to set up an account at your favorite article directory. You need to choose a directory that has an RSS feed. I suggest you choose EzineArticles.com as they are the best one out there. Once your account is set with the article directory find your personal RSS feed and write it down.

Once you have your article directory personal RSS feed head over to twitterfeed.com and set up an account. What this tool does is it takes your RSS feed and publishes it onto your Twitter account automatically. Don’t worry this step is easy to set up, just follow the questions they ask.

When you are all set up you now only need to write an article on your chosen topic and post it to your chosen article directory. Make sure to put links in the resource box of the article that direct people to your website.

That is all you need to do. Once this is all set up everything will run automatically and you will be driving free, targeted traffic to your site with every article you publish.

Here is how the traffic gets to your website. First your article will be published by the article directory. Second the RSS feed from the directory that belongs to your articles will be picked up by twitterfeed.com and sent to your Twitter profile as a post. The post will be the title of your article with a link to the article. Everyone who follows you on Twitter will see this post and if they are interested will click on the link to the article. Those people will read the article and if they like what you say in the article and want to know more they will click on the link in your resource box taking them to your website or blog or affiliate link. It doesn’t stop there because your new Twitter post will automatically be sent to Facebook and your Facebook status will be your Twitter post (Article title with a link to the article). Anyone who follows you on Facebook will see this status change and if interested will click the link.
